Benita, who's been volunteering with St John for 18 months, is normally a Unit Manager in Shadwell. As part of our response to coronavirus she's been redeployed to University Hospital Lewisham, supporting doctors and nurses in the A&E Department

Tell us about your experiences with St John during the coronavirus outbreak

I've always worked in and with the NHS and as the news of the coronavirus unfolded around the world, I knew I had the skills which could be useful during the crisis.

Meeting the A&E staff at hospital during our training session was incredibly positive - they work so hard every day, not just during a pandemic, and were happy for some extra pairs of hands, so I was eager to help out where I could.
