St John Ambulance's highly skilled volunteers have been working to support the NHS throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and are helping to deliver a national vaccination programme. So far, over a million jabs have been given.
We've trained around 30,000 volunteers and using our longstanding expertise give people the vital clinical skills and the confidence to use them.
All volunteers meet strict selection criteria, mandated by the NHS, and receive appropriate clinical training. This includes official courses developed in partnership with and approved by NHS England. As well as extensive training, they are subject to assessments and clinical supervision to ensure their own safety and that of everyone receiving the vaccine.
"The training offered by St John’s Ambulance was superb: an insight into the unparalleled expertise of this organisation, which, for more than a century, has turned volunteers from novices into health experts with maximum efficiency.”
