15 February 2022: St John Ambulance has appointed leading HR and Workforce specialist Claire Vaughan as its new People and Culture Director.  

Claire will join St John Ambulance on April 25, from Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust, where she is currently the Executive Director of Workforce and Organisational Development. She has over 20 years’ experience leading on and delivering sustainable change in the voluntary, health, education and other sectors across Wales and has led many of her teams to award-winning success.  

Claire said: “While I have met fantastic people and led wonderful teams in my time at the Welsh NHS and Welsh Ambulance Service, I am now looking forward to bringing my skills and knowledge to this important role for St John.  

“I'm especially excited to play an integral part in the next stage of their journey of growth and cultural development, starting with the design of a progressive new People and Culture strategy for the charity.” 

Claire will lead a team of HR, Equity and Inclusion, Wellbeing, Learning and Development, Safeguarding and Recruitment experts.  

Claire lives just outside Cardiff with her family, and is also an Independent Committee Member at Aberystwyth University.
