Bones, Muscles, and Joint Injuries lesson plan and resources
The lesson plan includes suggested activities.
By the end of the lesson, your students will:
understand what causes bone, muscle and joint injuries
be able to recognise if someone has a fracture (broken bone), a dislocation injury, a sprain or strain
know how to respond in these situations
know how to use the RICE (rest, ice, comfortable support, elevation) method for treating injuries.
Who can deliver this first aid lesson?
The lesson plans can be delivered by teachers, higher-level teaching assistants, school nurses and youth leaders who have a current first aid qualification. The first aid qualification must cover the topic you are teaching.
All the information from the resources can be found in the current edition of the First Aid Manual.
