What is resilience?

Resilience is the ability to cope during challenging periods of change and stress, with greater efficiency and effectiveness. Building stronger mental resilience empowers you to adapt positively when experiencing adversity, reducing the risk of developing a mental illness.

Resilience supports your return to a positive state of mind and gives you the confidence to face challenges with optimism.

The 5 pillars of resilience*

On both of our resilience training courses, all delegates are taught about the 5 pillars of resilience. These are:

Sustaining and renewing physical energy to have the capacity to keep going through challenging times.

  2. Future Focus

Having a clear sense of purpose and direction to help to move forward without getting stuck or feeling held back.

  3. Inner Drive

Sustaining self-belief when times get tough, displaying confidence, motivation and perseverance.

  4. Flexible Thinking

Having an open and optimistic mindset, enabling a positive and adaptive response to change and challenges.

What is the online workplace resilience and wellbeing self-assessment?

The short online self-assessment is sent out with the course joining instructions, and takes around 15 minutes to complete. It will give a snapshot of an individual’s personal resilience and the reports will be generically referred to during the course to explore strategies to enhance resilience. The questions are based on research into the factors that have been shown to contribute to resilience and wellbeing.

Please note that the trainer will not have access to the reports and will not discuss the results individually with each delegate. Results will not be shared with anybody within the delegate’s organisation. Delegates are under no obligation to discuss the results with the trainer during the course.

How old do you need to be to attend the courses?

Delegates should be 18 years of age or older to attend this course.

Do attendees need any prior knowledge to attend the courses?

There is no prerequisite for attending this course, anybody can attend. It is recommended that attendees should be in employment, as these courses are tailored for building resilience at work.
